Acetal polymers, referred to chemically as PolyOxyMethylene, are semi-crystalline engineering themoplastics made by the polymerization of formaldehyde. They have physical properties that are not available with metals or most other plastics; high mechanical strength and rigidity, low coefficients of friction, low moisture absorption, excellent dimensional stability, fatigue endurance, and resistance to abrasion and creep. These materials are also resistant to a wide range of solvents and have good electrical properties, which make them good for electrical applications.
There are two types of Acetals, Copolymer Acetal and Homopolymer Acetal. Copolymer Acetals remain tough through broad temperature ranges and are more resistant to hot water, hot air, and creep than the Homopolymer Acetals. Although Homopolymer Acetals should not be used with strong caustics, they generally have slightly higher mechanical and thermal properties than Copolymer Acetals.

• PTFE Fiber-filled Acetal Homopolymer Delrin® 100AF-Blend Delrin® AF is a unique themoplastic material for use in moving parts in which low friction and long wear life are important. It is a combination of PTFE fibers uniformly dispersed in Delrin® Acetal resin. This combination offers better wear characteristics than unfilled Delrin® Acetal. Delrin® 100AF-Blend is supplied as a 2:1 blend of Delrin®AF100 and Delrin® 150 resins. Delrin® AF-Blend retains 90% of the strength that is inherent in unmodified Delrin® Acetal. • FDA-compliant PTFE Powder-filled Acetal Homopolymer This 13% PTFE Powder-filled Acetal performs as well as the more expensive (Non FDA-compliant) Delrin® AF-Blend in most applications.
• Static-dissipative Acetal Copolymer This Acetal is a non-carbon filled, permanantly static dissapative material. With enhanced lubricity, SDA provides superior wear resistance and ease of machining. Its extremely low outgassing values and non-sloughing characteristics make it ideal for applications where particulate generation cannot be tolerated.

Custom grades of Acetal Most of the grades listed below are available from stock in a limited variety of sizes, call customer service to check availability.
• Static-dissipative Acetal Copolymer - This Acetal is a non-carbon filled, permanantly static dissapative material. With enhanced lubricity, SDA provides superior wear resistance and ease of machining. Its extremely low outgassing values and non-sloughing characteristics make it ideal for applications where particulate generation cannot be tolerated.
• Conductive Acetal Copolymer / Carbon-filled - This is a non-sloughing carbon-filled Acetal which is extremely strong and stiff with excellent dimensional stability. Abrasion-resistant, highly chemical-resistant, with temperature resistance to 320ºF.
• Conductive Acetal Copolymer / Stainless Steel Fiber-filled - Stainless Steel Fiber-filled Acetal is a dimensionally stable material with temperature resistance to 225ºF. This material has relatively high chemical resistance, is extremely strong and stiff, and is an excellent choice for situations where carbon based conductive fillers are not acceptable.
• PTFE Filled Acetal Copolymer - This Copolymer Acetal is an outstanding bearing and wear material for use in both wet and dry environments. The PTFE filler allows it to be used without additional lubricants in applications where grease and oil are undesirable. (White FDA-compliant grades available on request)
• PTFE-Filled Acetal Homopolymer - Brown Homopolymer Acetal with an internal PTFE lubricant. Its low coefficient of friction, excellent PV values, toughness, wear resistance, and machinability make it an exceptional material for use in many industrial and military components with moving parts.
• DELRIN® 511P (Formerly known as 550SA) - general purpose, unfilled Acetal. This grade has the best machinability of all unfilled DELRIN®. During machining, Meets or exceeds ASTM D4181 POM112 / FDA / NSF Compliant
• DELRIN® 507 Black - this is the black UV stabilized equivalent to the 550SA. It has the best machinability of all standard Acetal grades. Meets or exceeds ASTM D4181 POM130 B44350
• DELRIN® 570 - this grade has 15% or 20% glass fiber filler. It has much greater mechanical properties over unfilled Acetals. 15% glass - meets or exceeds ASTM D4181 POM110 G15 A33170 20% glass - meets or exceeds ASTM D4181 POM110 G20 A39(4200) 170 • DELRIN® 500CL - Chemically Lubricated Acetal Meets or exceeds ASTM D4181 POM112 B44250
• DELRIN® 100AF - PTFE Filled Acetal (unblended) - unblended DELRIN® 100AF, offers a slightly higher limiting PV and lower coefficient of friction due to additional PTFE content.
• DELRIN® AF DE-588 - PTFE Filled Acetal - this material is similar to DELRIN® 100AF but is specified for U.S. Naval shipboard use only. It is usually purchased with certified test data.
